FAQs

Yes, I am popular enough to get FAQs. In order to it to be considered an FAQ - the questions have to be frequently asked, that means more than once, haha... so I will answer the 3 biggest.

1) How do I eat healthy?
Well, I can think of 1,000 things to tell you.
  • drink lots of water
  • eat clean
  • shop the perimeter of the grocery store - that is produce/meats/dairy - leave. Do not put processed junk in your mouth (except birthday cake and coffee creamer, lol)
  • buy organic, when you can
  • eat fresh eggs
  • eat fresh veggies, so much better than that canned/processed crap
  • do not drink your calories (i.e., trade sweet tea for unsweetened; sweeten with monk fruit, stevia, or agave nectar)
  • write down what you eat
  • measure what you eat
  • try almond milk
  • eat hummus and veggies as a snack
  • I always prep meals ahead of time - grapes are washed and taken off the stem for a quick snack, I cut up all my celery and carrots for the week, make a weeks worth of lunches (this week it is an arugula, grape, and sunflower seed salad with a homemade mustard and maple vinaigrette - four servings all in plastic containers ready to go, the dressing will be added tomorrow), eggs boiled for a snack, etc.
Obviously there is tons more, so research it!

2) How do I start running?
  • Just put one foot in front of the other and take off.
  • Try Couch to 5K.
  • Go to a park that has lightpoles, and run one lightpole, walk the next two - increase the running/decrease walk breaks until you are running an entire mile or more
  • Find fellow runners - to encourage, inspire, and teach
  • Get fitted for shoes
  • Sign up for a race, that will make you do it
  • When you get tired, walk, it happens to us all!
  • Never give up! Today you might not be able to run for a minute, but if you stay motivated you will run that race!
3) How do you do it?
I just do. If, I want to do it: I set a goal, put my mind to it, never give up, and achieve.  One of my role models is Maria Kang (who is frowned upon for supposedly "fat shaming" - which is not true, she is a beautiful, sweet, and motivating wife and mother) - any how, Maria says "Thoughts become things." I truly believe this.

If I can run a marathon (which requires a good deal of training) with 3 kids, 9 chickens, 2 dogs, a full time career, a house, and keep my husband happy - you can run a 5K - or even an ULTRA!
